2012 Cultural Olympiad Event

MONA LISA Arts & Media and St Peter's Church Burnham

Sponsored Arts & Sports Events inspired by the 2012 Games

We held our first sponsored arts and sports event last Friday afternoon in Cornerstone at St Peter's Church Burnham. The Chicago Bridge event with afternoon tea was organised by church members Stephanie Peniket and Eddie Moon. We had a very good turn-out with approximately 40 people joining in and helping to raise funds for the church and MONA LISA Arts & Media Olympic Angels 2012 Project.

This is the first of many that will be taking place over the coming months leading up to the 2012 opening ceremony in July. We will be organising the following sponsored events: - Line Dancethon, Swimming, Golf, Tennis, Rugby and a Tea Dance. There will also be an art exhibition and floral display to be held in St Peter s Church Burnham 27th July - 9th Sept 2012 inspired by the 2012 Games, and will be open to the general public, times to be arranged.

On 4th August 2012 to coincide with the Rowing Finals at Dorney Lake we are turning Cornerstone into a Palm Court and be serving English Afternoon Teas. This quintessentially English experience where people will enjoy cream teas with sandwiches, cakes and pastries served in the style you would expect to find in fine English Tea Rooms. All of which can be enjoyed whilst listening to musicians playing free of charge to help us with our fundraising efforts.

Sponsored Swim by Amanda Hing on Wednesday 14th March at the Magnet Leisure Centre Maidenhead

Amanda managed 60 lengths in 60 minutes raising funds for the Olympic Angels project and St Peter's Church Burnham.

Tea Dance in the Afternoon held in Cornerstone St Peter's Church Burnham

The Tea Dance afternoon in Cornerstone went really well with approximately 50 people taking part in what was a most enjoyable event with yummy homemade cakes supplied by friends, supporters and members of St Peter's Church to help in our fundraising efforts inspired by the 2012 Olympics. We would like to thank the lovely Lorna Pecover and her dancing friends for the fantastic demonstration of Line Dancing and to Chris Surtees for serving tea and cakes to all who came along to give their support and join in the fun.
